Arkansas School Garden of the Year Contest

The School Garden of the Year Contest is a partnership effort between the Arkansas Agriculture Department and Farm Credit to support school gardens across Arkansas. “School gardens are important hands-on educational tools that incorporate math and science skills while teaching students about food production, good nutrition, and the importance of agriculture, our state’s largest industry ,” says Arkansas Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward.

2017 is the fourth year of this contest that provides funds for award winning gardens in the following categories: 1) Best Nutrition Education Based Garden; 2) Best Community Collaboration Garden; 3) Best Environmental Education Focused Garden; 4) Overall Winning Arkansas Grown School Garden of the Year; and new this year 5) Best School Garden Start-Up Proposal.
